英语专业成立于1985年，师资力量雄厚。本专业培养德、智、体全面发展，具有扎实的英语语言基础和比较广泛的科学文化知识，能在外事、经贸、文化、新闻出版、教育、科研、旅游和工业（特别是建筑、材料、汽车、交通、海运）等部门从事翻译 、研究、教学、管理工作的英语高级专门人才。
　　主要课程：基础英语、高级英语、写作、英国文学、美国文学、翻译理论与实践、外国报刊选读、语言学导论、高级口译等。
　　学生毕业后主要从事国家公务员、英语教师、企业外贸、翻译等职业。就业地域集中在北京、上海、深圳、广州、武汉等地。

英语专业（英法双语实验班）

(一) 本专业学生主要学习英法双语语言、文学、政治、历史、经济、外交、社会文化等方面的基本理论和基本知识、受到英语和法语听、说、读、写、译等方面的良好训练，掌握一定的科研方法，具有从事翻译、研究、教学、管理工作的业务水平及较好的素质和较强的能力。
 
　　(二) 毕业生应获得以下几方面的知识和能力：
　　1．了解我国有关的方针、政策、法规；
　　2．掌握英语和法语语言学、文学及相关人文和科技方面的基础知识；
　　3．具有扎实的英法双语语言基础和较熟练的听、说、读、写、译能力；
　　4．了解我国国情和英语国家及法语国家的社会和文化；
　　5．具有较好的汉语表达能力和基本调研能力；
　　6．掌握文献检索、资料查询的基本方法，具有初步科学研究和实际工作能力。
 
　　(三) 专业核心课程：英语精读、法语精读、基础写作、欧美文学、翻译理论与技巧、欧美国家概况、商务英语、商务法语。
　　专业特色课程：欧美文学、翻译理论与技巧、商务英语、商务法语。
 
　　(四) 修业年限：四年
 
　　(五) 授予学位：文学学士学位
 
　　The students will be instructed with the basic theory and knowledge of English and French language, literature, politics, history, economics, diplomacy and social culture. With a comprehensive training of English and French language in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation and a mastery of basic research methods, the students will possess strong skills and abilities in careers of translation, education, management and research.
　　The students are required to obtain the knowledge or ability as follows:
　　1. Getting acquainted with China’s policies and laws.
　　2. Mastery of essential knowledge in English and French linguistics, literature and other liberal arts, and the basic knowledge in science.
　　3. Proficiency in English and French listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation.
　　4. Understanding of Chinese culture and the culture of English-speaking countries and French-speaking countries.
　　5. Proficiency in Chinese language and the ability of research.
　　6. Mastery of the basic method of literature retrieval and data inquiry, elementary research skills and adaptability of future jobs.
